ADEM Jean-Marc
Jean-Marc – ADEM is a mobile application concept designed to help users understand the carbon footprint of the products they consume. By scanning a product’s barcode, users instantly access its environmental impact, expressed in CO₂ equivalent, through a simple and intuitive interface. The project aims to make environmental data accessible and actionable in everyday consumption.

The application goes beyond measurement by integrating education, personalization, and gamification. Users can create a profile to track the carbon footprint of their purchases over time and receive tailored suggestions to reduce their impact, such as choosing more sustainable alternatives or adjusting consumption habits.
A virtual guide named Jean-Marc, inspired by Jean-Marc Jancovici, accompanies users throughout the experience. Acting as an educational and advisory figure, he provides contextual explanations, comparisons between products, and educational content about climate change and carbon emissions.
The visual direction is based on a bichromatic design system, using strong flat colors to clearly represent impact levels. A rating scale from A+ to E, associated with specific colors, allows users to instantly understand the environmental cost of a product. The interface prioritizes usability, with the barcode scan positioned as the central action, reinforcing the app’s primary purpose: raising awareness and encouraging more responsible consumption through clarity and engagement.
